John Nelson reports that Dr Otho Smith's farm was used for soldiers belonging to General William Henry French's division. Dr Anson Hurd of the 14th Indiana Volunteer Infantry also administered to soldiers on the Smith Farm. Dr Smith’s son filed a claim that the house, barn and outbuildings were used as a hospital from September 17 to October 11, 1862.
