The Case of Alfred Howard.

The Governor gives notice that application has been made to him for commutation of sentence from 12 years 5 months to 6 years confinement in the Penitentiary, in the case of Alfred Howard (free negro) convicted by the Circuit Court for Washington County at the November Term 1853 of larceny, on eight several indictments. The Governor gives further notice, that he will take up the said case for final decision, on or after Monday the 16th of March next until which time protests against the said application will be heard, and the petition in the case open to inspection, at the discretion of the Governor.
