A House Partially Burnt.
On Tuesday night of last week, at about half past ten o'clock, the alarm of fire was sounded through the lower part of this town, caused by the burning of a Log House, the property of Mrs. Chloe Plowden, (a colored woman) situate in Harry's Town. The roof and upper story of the House was burnt, but the remainder was saved by the timely arrival of the Engine of the Independent Junior Fire Company, the members of which, notwithstanding the great distance which they had to drag their apparatus, labored with commendable zeal for the extinguishment of the flames. The poor old woman lost the greater part of her household effects, In addition to the damage which her dwelling sustained, and having an invalid daughter to maintain, she is deserving of all the relief which the charitably disposed may extend to her.
