Money for Contrabands—None for the People.

An amendment to the Army Appropriation Bill was adopted by Congress, a few days since, by which $50,000 was appropriated for the purchase of medicines for the Contrabands. The people of this County have suffered severely from the long presence of the Army in their midst—many losing largely and some few their all. Appeal after appeal has been made to the liberality and justice of the Government for some relics in the shape of an appropriation. As yet nothing has been accomplished and as the session of Congress is rapidly drawing to a close, the chances are that nothing will be done to relieve the sufferers . While no time can be found and no money can be spared by Congress for the relief of the white sufferer, the whole time can be devoted by the Abolition majority in that body, and abundance of money can be found for the relief of the negro.— Is it not high time that white people should begin to take care of themselves and not entrust their persons, their property and their money to Abolitionists.
