Tree Planted For School Principal
Pupils Honor Paul Arbogast

Thursday was a nice day for the spring program at Pennsylvania Avenue School when third and fourth graders honored Paul Arbogast, their principal, by planting, a maple tree in front of the school.

Michael Howard and Karen McDonald represented the pupils and presented their principal with a plaque denoting that the tree was planted on the front lawn in his honor.

Preceding the tree-planting, the following program was presented in the school auditorium for parents and other pupils of the school:
"The Teddy Bear's Picnic," by grades three under the direction of Mrs. Gillie Babich, Mrs. Orva Jones and Mrs. Mary L. Bane; "Maryland Days," by youngsters of Miss Mildred DeMoss and Mrs. Joanne Scarcelli's rooms; and a play, "Arbor Day," by pupils of Mrs. Marion Hoopengardner's room.

The program was concluded with the group singing, "Hymn for Arbor Day." Then everyone went outside to witness the tree planting under supervision of Harry M. Hartman Jr., assistant district forester of the Maryland Department of Forests and Parks, which donated the sapling.
