Howard Rees was born in Frostburg in 1911, in a family of miners from Wales. He describes the lives of his grandparents and his parents and includes recollections of the effect of strikes in the community and the Great Depression when mines in Frostburg were closed. The interview was conducted by his daughter, Elizabeth Rees Gilbert.
