Boonsboro Oct 5, 1901

A special meeting of the Boonsboro Republican Club was held on Saturday evening Oct 5. Major Pierce presided and after reading and adoption of the minutes of previous meeting Major Pierce addressed the Club setting forth the advisability of putting the club on a firm financial basis, stating that in his opinion it was right and proper for the club to take out articles of incorporation. A committee composed of Dr. Wm. C. Wheeler, Mr. Samuel Knode & F. E. Newcomer were appointed to audit the report of the Treasurer for the past year and upon examination found that the club had received during the year $233.12, had expended $223.21, leaving a net balance on hand at the end of the year of $9.91.

The following bills were passed by the Club and ordered paid.
Samuel C. Knode & Son (for coal) - 3.40
Chas. J. Young - (Stationary, Stamps & ect.) - 3.57

Mr. Samuel E. Young followed the address of Major Pierce and heartily endorsed the idea of incorporation, Mr. Samuel C. Knode advanced the theory that he thought it best for the Club to secure the membership for the ensueing year before taking out papers of incorporation. At the request of Major Pierce the Rev. Mr. Westfall took the floor and addressed the Club in a very entertaining manner and was heartily enjoyed by all present, after which an invitation was extended to all to practice voting and was participated in by many. There being no other business the Club adjourned to meet again on Oct. 26, 1901.

Respectfully Submitted
Frank E. Newcomer
