Summons
A summons is the process used in commencing a civil action in a court of record, whether it be an action at law or a suit of an equitable nature. Properly speaking, such a summons is not "process" but is rather in the nature of a mere notice informing the defendant that an action has been commenced against him, and that he is required to answer the complaint of the plaintiff therein within a specified time.
Orphans' court.
The name used in some of the States - Delaware and New Jersey, for instance, - as the title of a court having jurisdiction over the probate of wills, and the administration and settlements of decedents' estates.
