Runaway Negro

Was committed to the jail of Washington County, in Maryland, as a runaway on the 8th day of August (instant) a negro man who says his name was WILL and that he belongs to John Tyler, near Leesburg in Virginia. He is about 40 years old, rather low in stature; his clothes are one old gingham coat, coarse brown linen trowsers, two coarse shirts, and an old wool hat. He has a large scar on his left arm, which he says has been scalded. The owner is desired to release him, or he will be sold agreeably to law.
