In a local newspaper, an ad appeared on May 23, 1871 of Gustav Stuklauser, at Zink's Old Brewery near the Viaduct. They were makers of lager, common beer. Orders from a distance were promptly filled. He would furnish beer to customers the entire season. On March 3, 1873 Christoph Betz dealt in all brewer's materials and red and white nectar wines, No. 23 German (Bond) Street, Cumberland, Maryland. On March 3, 1873, the Queen City Bottling House, 277 North Mechanic Street, H. Gerdeman Company, were manufacturers of lager beer, porter and ale, stock porter and stock ale. On February 2, 1873, Gerdeman and Bergman bought out the bottling establishment of the Schriver Brothers.
On June 7, 1873 John Himmler and his brother had a brewery between Mechanic Street and Wills Creek near the Narrows. The property was known as the "Sebastopol" in the Narrows where they had a large vault for the storage of beer. They claimed the best lager beer in the state and their common beer had worldwide fame. This brewery had passed from father to sons.
On December 7, 1887, F. Himmler and Company, liquor dealers of this city, shipped a quantity of their goods via B&O Express to Missouri. The
