Marble buildings in the area (- the Rines' connection.)

Marble buildings - Rines Click on the MEDIA ITEMS below for more information

Ed Itnyre, the current owner of the Kefauver homestead, in the doorway of the cave or root cellar, constructed at the time of the Rines' ownership of the land. Rines was the operator or possibly president of the marble quarry located a mile away, so it is probable that the marble for this building came for the quarry on the Shifler land near Rohrersville.

Note the markings in the piece above the lintel. The drill marks appear very even. Ed believes that the marble may not have been saleable, that its brownish color could have come from the upper layers of the marble.
