ROTARIANS WANT DAYLIGHT SAVING

Municipal Authorities of Cumberland and Other Places in County Will be Asked to Adopt It May 1.

Adoption of the daylight saving plan was indorsed by the Cumberland Rotary Club at its regular dinner meeting at the Fort Cumberland Hotel, Tuesday at noon.

The City Council here and the authorities of towns of the Georges Creek region and of other points throughout Allegany county, will be asked to authorize the plans in time for it to become effective May 1. The Executive Committee, Cumberland Chamber of Commerce, will assist the Rotary Club in promoting the change which would set the standard time one hour ahead.

Immediately after the regular dinner, the annual election of directors and of officers took place. J. Milton Patterson, the retiring president, called for the report of the nominating committee of which Frank B. Jenvey was chairman. The following were approved by the club as directors: Franklin H. Ankeney, Herman D. Billmeyer, Webster K. Edwards, Thomas B. Finan, L. Leslie Helmer, Tasker G. Lowndes, George Hendeson, Irving T. Holland, Edward F. Reich and George G. Young. The directors organized and elected these officers: President, Herman D. Billmeyer; vice-president, L. Leslie Helmer; secretary, Eugene Bowers; treasurer, George Henderson; sergeant-at-arms, Edward F. Reich.
