URGES BRIDGE OVER POTOMAC AT OLDTOWN

Chamber of Commerce Behind Project to Connect That Point With Green Spring, W. Va.

Franklin H. Ankeney, secretary of the Cumberland Chamber of Commerce, has written to the court of Hampshire county, at Romney, W. Va., and to the road directors of Allegany county, Md., urging that a bridge be built to connect Green Spring, W. Va., with Oldtown Md.

The letter follows:
"Our attention has been called to the necessity for a bridge over the Potomac River that would connect the vicinity of Green Spring, W. Va., with Oldtown, Md., and we are writing to ask that you give serious consideration to the building of such a bridge in conjunction with the citizens of these communities.

"The citizens of this particular section are greatly handicapped in getting to a market by the lack of a way to get over the river. Cumberland needs the produce raised by the farmers of that section and they need a market where they can dispose of their goods at a profitable return.

"Any project or improvement that tends to bring our communities closer together is a good thing for these communities from many standpoints.

"We hope that you will give this matter your attention and that you will be willing to co-operate with any movement towards having a bridge built at that point."
