Summer Reading Club To Hear Talk On Canal

The Summer Reading Club at the Allegany County Library on Washington Street will meet Friday at 2 p.m., according to Mrs. Dorothy Dove, children's librarian.

Two special guests will be introduced following the regular meeting. Robin Wendt, a seventh grade student at Washington Junior High School will speak on the C&O Canal. She was a blue ribbon winner in the 4-H speech contest for Allegany, Garrett and Washington counties.

Holly Wendt, who will be in the fifth grade at Pennsylvania Avenue School, will give a demonstration entitled "Fun On A Rainy Day." Holly was a blue ribbon winner in the 4-H demonstration contest for the three Western Maryland counties.

The Summer Reading Club is for children in grades one through six. An average of 55 children has been attending every Friday.
