MOSTYN SERVICE CLUB
16, Portman Street, London, W. 1.,
WELBECK 2361

January 27, 1943

Major General R. P. Hartle,
London Base Command,
A. P. O. 8873 UNITED STATES ARMY.

Dear General Hartle,
Tour assignment is one of great responsibility, and carries with it the weight of many serious decisions to be made.

I am writing to you to bring to your attention one of the finest letters that I have ever had the good fortune to read. I have carried it with me for a number of months, and have read it to many people. I am sending it on to you in the hope that it will give you the same lift as it has given me. It is one of the greatest things I have read, and I have turned to it time and time again since I have been carrying it.

Private Carey, I believe, is stationed somewhere here in this Theater of Operations, and I thought perhaps you would be interested in this fine letter having come from one of the enlisted men. I am sure that his mother was overjoyed in receiving this splendid thought from her son.

With every good wish that you will be given strength and courage to carry on and direct our forces to ultimate victory,

I am,
Sincerely yours,

WBC/PPA       William B. Cruise, Director
