Cat Rescued From Flood

An act of humanity was performed at Williamsport this morning when Luther Silvers and Newton McAllister rescued a cat from a tree standing out in the flood below the canal bridge.

The cat had taken refuge in the tree as the waters rose and was only a few feet above the rising flood when the rescuers reached it in a boat.

Company B Off To Cumberland

Company B, local National Guard company was ordered mobilized shortly before noon today and will leave early this afternoon for duty at Cumberland. This was confirmed by company officials. How the guardsmen will reach Cumberland is not know as the National Highway is blocked at Hancock.

Sawmill Swept Away By Flood

The Kelly Sawmill and about 5,000 feet of lumber along the Potomac near Dam No. 4 was carried away by the flood waters this morning. Several hundred crossties, several drums of gasoline and all of the tools also went along. Water was up to the bunk house windows.
