Accidentally shot.

On Saturday night, the inst., Mr. EUGENE E. SMITH, a member of Russell’s Cavalry Company, who was on a visit to his parents at this place, and during the evening mentioned, it being believed that the Rebels were approaching town, concluded with several of his fellow-soldiers to picket the road between this place and Boonsboro'. About 11 o'clock no signs of danger being apparent he deemed it advisable to return, and upon his arrival at the square the crowd there assembled eagerly pressed around him to ascertain the result of his labors and whilst engaged in detailing it one of his fellow soldiers rushed to his side, and in so doing accidentally discharged Smith's carbine, the contents passing through his left foot, causing a frightful wound. Medical assistance was at once rendered and the unfortunate patient is now doing as well as the nature of the wound will justify.
