March the 1st 1860
My health is good at this time.
Octavy Mannakee was married to Jno. R. Williams February the 21th 1860.

My father started from home February the 21st 1860 to visit his daughter (Mary M. Cason) in the state of Georgia, arrived in Washington City February the 22d 1860.
Miss Catherine E. Miles was taken sick of Friday the 10th of February 1860 & died of Rheumatic Rheumatism on the 29 of Feb. following, thus Kate is gone a fine young lady snatched from her friends in the bloom of youth & I fear without a prospect of Heaven yet my prayer is that she rests sweetly in the arms of Jesus her Saviour.

Mary J. Maxwell my love visits Balt. City this week, feb. the 28th 1860.

Catherine Miles’s funeral was preached by the Rev. Chas. Mcelfresh from the latter clause of the 36th verse of the 42nd chapt. of the Book of Genesis ( all these things are against me.)

March the 2d 1860.
Kate is gone may she rest in peace.
My father arrives safely in Ga. Feb. 26th 1860.

April 10th 1860
I am still in good health. Yesterday & today has been exceedingly rainy.

Sept. the 27th 1860.
My father returned from the state of Ga. on friday the 13th of April 1860.
He enjoyed his trip very much, he left Augusta on the 4th of Apr. but was detained in Washington D. C. on account of sickness. While there was presented with five hundred Dollars by [?] A. Beall.
Since that time I have been blessed with very good health. I may here note the death of Eliza. & [Richard Stance since that time ?]
