Sept. 27th 1860
I stopped teaching school at Locust Grove on the 12th inst. with the intention of {code} May the Lord go with us.
A camp meeting was held (on Lanes campground Fred. Circuit) Aug. 3d 1860. There was on the occasion some powerful preaching & yet but 4 or 5 converts. Aug. 21st 1860 A camp was held near the mountain meeting house. About 30 or 40 souls were converted.

Sept. 27th 1860
Wheat is worth $1.25 to $1.50 per bu.

Nov. 20th 1860
Today is to be my wedding day. I expect to start by the help of God to Ga. on tomorrow morning (Nov. 21st). My mother has troubled and greaved a good deal about me and every thing around her. May my God comfort and console her heart is my humble prayer.

Nov. 20th 1860
I was this evening about 7 o'clock at Rev A. Maxwell's house married to Mary J. Maxwell by the Rev. John B. Hall (preacher in charge of Frederick Circuit)

Nov. 21st 1860
Myself & lady leave home about 10 o’clock A, M. for Washington, arrived there 9 o’clock P. M. After getting about 2 hours rest we leave Washington D. C. on the steamer Mount Vernon 7 o'clock A. M. Thursday Nov. 22 for the South, arrive at Acquid creek 10 ½ A. M. & after passing Fredericksburg, Richmond, Petersburg & Wilson arrive at Wilmington, N. C. Friday the 23d 5 o’clock. A. M.
