I commenced planting corn on last thursday the 5th inst. & planted 7 or 8 acres. Today I commenced planting again in the old orchard, have some 5 acres to break yet although a great many farmers are through. The weather has been very warm for the last 4 or 5 days. I now have 12 lambs all doing well.

On yesterday a week ago I finished planting corn on the old orchard & intended to plant the remainder of the graveyard field (which I had broken) on last friday & Saturday but the rainy weather set in so that I have just commenced it this evening. I finished shearing my sheep today. They will average about 5 lbs. of wool to the sheep making in all 90 lbs. Mr. Maxwell came down yesterday the 18th Inst. & brought down 23 old sheep & 16 lambs making in all 39 to pasture. He returned this morning.

Monday May the 23d 1864
I finished planting a piece of corn of about 6 or 7 acres in the graveyard field last Saturday morning the 21st inst., have 5 acres to break yet. My tobacco plants are nearly large enough to plant out. I planted some watermellons, cantelopes & squash seed Saturday last.
