RECENT HISTORICAL MEMORIES

On December 12, 1971, the Frostburg United Methodist Church celebrated the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the present church building. What has happened to the Church, its people, programs and properties in the ensuing years until this celebration of the 150th anniversary of the congregation is the focus of the section below. Before examining the highlights of each year, it is important to recall the continuation of several efforts throughout these years (and throughout all sorts of weather and economic changes):
       the worship of God through regular and special services;
       the maintenance and improvement of the Church building and properties;
       the educational program in Sunday School for youth and adults and the Vacation Church School;
       the giving to the Church and the meeting of its apportionments;
       the confirmation classes and the adults who have come to unite in the Christian faith with the United Methodist Church;
       the choirs and the music they have provided;
       the basketball teams, the players and their sportsmanship;
       the annual Mission Dinners, the 42nd of which was held in 1982;
       the United Methodist Women, the Circles and the service and fellowship they have supplied;
       the culmination of many efforts in the Frostburg Retirement Village;
       the continued good works of CAMP HOPE'S youth service projects;
       the well-received tours of our Youth Choir around the Baltimore Conference;
       the providing of ministry through baptisms, weddings and funerals for congregation and community;
       and so much more.
