A Rebel Captain Arrested.—

A man named George Sharer, who represents himself as a Captain in the First Maryland (Rebel) Regiment, leisurely passed up the Western Turnpike on Thursday last on his way to Hancock, where he doubtless intended to cross the river into Virginia, and make his way back into the rebel army. The Provost Marshal hero having received information of his whereabouts, despatched four of the 1st Vermont Cavalry after him, who succeeded in arresting him near Hancock, and brought him to this town on Friday, where he was examined and committed to the Guard House. He was mounted on a fine horse, and well armed. We understand that Sharer was one of the little band of Frederick County rebels whom Bradley Johnson led into Dixie immediately after the riots of the 19th of April, and that he recently returned and had been lurking about in the vicinity of Emmitsburg, Waynesboro, and other places, where he has relatives and is well known. If he had made his escape, he would no doubt have had a budget of important information to communicate to his rebel friends, and his timely arrest, therefore, is a very fortunate occurrence for the cause of the Union.
