Shooting Affair.

β€”On Saturday evening 7th inst. Mr. David B. Souders, Government Detective, attempted to arrest, in this town, as a deserter from the federal army, John Wise, son of Mr. Daniel Wise, residing on the South Mountain, near town, when Wise started to run, whereupon Souders drew his revolver and fired two shots at him, one of which took effect in the right leg, below the knee, causing a slight flesh wound.β€” Wise it seems, was partially dressed in uniform, and although not a soldier, represented himself to Souders as belonging to the army, hence the attempt at arrest. No blame can possibly be attached to Souders, as he was simply acting in the discharge of his duty.β€”
Boonsboro' Odd Fellow.
