Nov 9 1864 A Dismounted Camp, Sad Occurrence, and Lieut. Mayberry

Click on the MEDIA ITEMS below for more information

To reach our readers once more before the election, we print and mail our paper for this week on Monday morning.

A Dismounted Camp has been established in Pleasant Valley and most of the Soldiers who were encamped near this place have been ordered thither.

Sad Occurrence.—In an affray between two soldiers, at the Dismounted Camp, near this place, on Saturday last, one of the parties named Henry Duncan, of the 2nd Virginia Cavalry, was so seriously injured that he died a few hours after.

We are gratified to be able to welcome back to our midst Lieut. Mayberry and his brave fellows who have returned to their homes for the purpose of voting to-morrow. It may be depended upon that they will not undo at the ballot-box what they have so heroically achieved on the battlefield.
