A subscriber urges the citizens of this county to assemble at an early day and take steps towards filling our quota of troops under the recent call of the President by volunteers. By a proper and timely effort & sufficient number of men can be secured to relieve our people of the draft. Let liberal bounties be offered and the requisite number of men will be forthcoming. There are a large number of veterans in this county who have upheld the flag on many of the hard fought battle fields of the Republic who would freely re-enter the ranks and share the closing triumphs of the struggle were an incentive offered them to do so. Many of them would prefer to unite themselves with the gallant Hancock’s Corps, which is rapidly filling up its ranks. In addition to the bounty offered to those entering this “Corps of Honor” let the local authorities offer a bounty of at least $200 to each recruit.
