With war requirements calling for a stepped-up schedule in 1945, Fairchild employees working on the PBM project gave their answer in January by turning out a record number of wing panels for the PBM-3 Mariner, the Navy's workhorse in Pacific patrol operations. This high performance was set in spite of bad weather conditions during the month. The above photo shows a section (Leading Edge) of the PBM shop at Plant 2.
