Rodney Keys, a 1966 graduate of Allegany High School, is, "Ready for the Gun" in this high school yearbook photograph. Rodney Keys also played football for Allegany High School, went on to see military service in Vietnam, and has had a long career as an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 307.

Allegany Track - Hurt, Jones, Franklin

The photograph on the left depicts James Floyd Hurt (below), and Calvin Jones (above), both juniors and members of the Allegany High School 1957 track team. Calvin and James would both graduate from Allegany High School in 1958. Along with track, James also played football.

Calvin Jones pursued the Commercial course of studies while at Allegany High School and went on to become a well-known local jeweler, designer of jewelry, and leader within the downtown Cumberland business community. He passed away in 2003 and his obituary appears elsewhere on this website.

This is the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company softball team which battled its way to the 1966 Rocking Chair League championships playoff.

Team members include, first row, left to right: Dick Robeson, Don May, Clarence Lewis, Bill Jamison, Bill Clayton, Walt Abe, DeWarren O'Neal, and John Shipley.

Second row: Dick Budd, business manager; Dorcil Kline, Junior Brelsford, Jim Ruppert, Walter Younger, Dick Sites, Junior Eversole, Harry Widdows, and Manager Don Decker.

On July 17, 1979 eleven year old Crystal Fields of Cumberland won the national championship in her division in the National Pitch-Hit-Run Competition which was held in Seattle, Washington. A reception in her honor was held later in the week by the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland where Crystal received the, “Key to the City of Cumberland”.

Crawford (class of 1967 and the son of Carver High School basketball and football coach Walter Crawford II), Don Wagner, and Dave Bruce. In the back row are, left to right, Jim Cornelius, Gary Rymer, Steve Vandenberg, and Mike Wilt.

Upon graduation, Walter Crawford went onto a lengthy career with Columbia Gas.

The Hollys - Dapper Dan

This 1966 photograph depicts the Dapper Dans Little League Baseball Team. In the front row is Mike Holly. In the second row, fourth and sixth from the left are Les and Clipper Holly. Seventh is Lionel Younger. In the back row, the coach, is Wayne Holly.

Mike Holly went on to play basketball in 1970 for Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Cumberland and graduated from Allegany High School in 1976.
