Runaway.
Was committed to the Jail of Washington County, on Friday, 5 th June inst., a Negro Man calling himself HENRY BARNETT, is 5 feet 8 inches high, of copper color and blind of one eye – says he belongs to William Linn, Prince Williams County, Virginia. – The owner of the above property, is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges and take him away, otherwise he will be dealt with according to law.

RUNAWAY.
Was committed to the Washington County Jail, on Friday July 3d, 1857, a NEGRO MAN calling himself DAVID JOHNSON, says he is from Bedford, Pennsylvania and is free. The said Negro is 5 feet 9 inches high, stout built, of bright yellow complexion, and has a cut on the back of one of his hands. The owner of the above negro is requested to come forward and prove property, otherwise he will be discharged agreeably to law.

Was committed to the Jail of Washington County, on Monday June 29th, 1857, a NEGRO MAN, calling himself GEORGE GRAY and says he belongs to STEPHEN HOWERSON, of Brentsville, Prince William County, Va., the said Negro is 5 feet 8 inches high, his Upper Teeth out, and hair a little gray. The owner of the above property is required to come forward, prove property, else he will be discharged agreeably to law.

RUNAWAYS.

A negro man belonging to Mr. Daniel Zeller, and a negro woman belong to Mr. Alexander Mitchell, citizens of this vicinity, made their escape to Pennsylvania on Sunday night, the 5 th last. They took with them a buggy and horse of Mr. Snider, of this town, by whom they were pursued as far as Shippensburg, where he recovered his property, but could hear nothing of them.

WAS TAKEN UP.

A negro man, who calls himself GEORGE CHAMPS, of a black complexion, with a bald place or scald on the right side of his head & a scar immediately over the right eye, who is now confined in the gaol of Allegany County as a runaway. The said negro is about 5 ft. 8 or 9 in. high, and about 50 years of age; his clothing is made of drab colored doth. The owner of the above described negro is hereby notified to come forward immediately and prove property, pay charges and take him away; otherwise he will be discharged according to law.

Runaway Negro

In the custody of the Sheriff of Washington County, viz.
A NEGRO man who calls himself Robbin Mason, about _____ years of age, five feet four inches high, of a yellowish complexion, a little bow legged, has two scars, one on his forehead over his left eye, and the other on the big toe of his left foot, and his back much marked with the whip - - Had on when committed a little wool hat, kendal cotton coat and jacket, coating overalls (all much worn) with a country made linen shirt – Says he belongs to Ralph Wormley, Middlesex County, state of Virginia.

In the custody of the Sheriff of Washington County, a negro man who calls himself
Daniel Scott, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, his back and thighs marked with the whip, he appears to be, and says he is a house servant.- -Had on when committed, an old brown coating lapelled coat, with large yellow buttons, white woolen jacket, with a linen back, striped nankeen breeches, white linen shirt, and half boots laced before - -Says he belongs to Gabriel Jones, of Rockingham County, State of Virginia.
