Military Change. - Capt. James Smith of this city,- Provost Marshal of the draft
for this Congressional district, has been relieved from duty, and Capt. Barley of the Invalid Corps, has taken his position. The reason of the change, or whether it has been made permanent or not, is not known.

The Quota of this County under the late call of the President for 500,000 men, -
is 426, apportioned as follows:

Thanks of the City Council to the Citizen Volunteers. —At a meeting of the Mayor and Council, held on Wednesday, the 3d inst; the following preamble and resolutions were adopted:—

Whereas, on Monday, the 1st. of August, the peace and safety of our city was endangered by an invading enemy, and the military authorities called on the citizens for volunteer aid, therefore

Mass Meeting of Citizens.

In accordance with previous notice a large and more than ordinarily enthusiastic meeting was held at the Market House, on Friday evening, the 5th inst. On motion the following officers were chosen:

President DR. C. H. Ohr, Mayor of city.

Vice-Presidents J.W. Magruder, John Gephart, A; M. L. Bush.
