Keys graduated in 1967, and Powell in 1966. Pete Keys was born in 1949 and passed away in 1976. Keys, along with his brother Rodney and Elaine Frisby, were among the first African-American children to integrate Cumberland's Columbia Street Elementary School in September 1955.

These two Allegany High School basketball players toast each other with a bottle of Pepsi-Cola after what must have been an Allegany High School team victory. On the far left is Richard "Baldy" Powell, in the middle is Gary Shook, and on the right is Gary Frisby. Though the date is not identified, Gary Shook and Gary Frisby were in the class of 1959, while Richard "Baldy" Powell graduated in 1960. The photo was probably taken during the 1958-1959 school year.

— CUMBERLAND - Former Fort Hill High School standout Mike Page has always worked hard and he says he learned to take that work ethic to another level after earning a spot on the West Virginia University football team as a walk-on.

The former All-State football player and track star will be challenging the members of the Bishop Walsh football team to work hard and reach beyond what they think their capabilities may be.
Page was announced as the Spartans' new head coach on Monday, succeeding Paul Miller. There were 14 candidates for the post.

This team compiled a record of 55 wins and zero losses while on their way to winning five consecutive league championships from 2000-2004. The team is sponsored by Derik Stephens, owner of "The Cutt Barber-Stylist Shop" on Pine Avenue.

Ty Marquise Johnson (1997- ), Professional Football Player

Ty Johnson was born in Cumberland, Maryland and graduated from Fort Hill High School in 2015. During his Junior and Senior years at Fort Hill Johnson led the “Sentinels” to back to back Maryland 1A State Football Championships during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Johnson was a Maryland High School Consensus All-State selection in 2014 and was the No. 1 ranked running back in Maryland in his class.
