Louis P. Doub was in charge of the Deposit Station at the Mill at West Beaver Creek. According to the Library's 1905 Annual Report, he had a circulation of 301 books. He was also involved in the running of the mill.

Library day in Hancock

The library in Hancock was in a store, where the books are stored with the canned goods and bottles. The sign says ... ry Day Wednesday, 8:30 AM to 2:45 PM. The Librarian behind the heater is filling in cards.

The Thursday Club was an organization of women, set up in Hagerstown, Maryland, by Clara Hamilton and Anna Kennedy in 1877. One of their goals was the establishment of a public library.

The Keedysville deposit station was in Roy Line's store for a number of years.

A small collection of books was housed in the general store and open one day a week with a local custodian.

The ladies of Boonsboro

Ladies reading in the Boonsboro Reading Room. This was an outgrowth of the deposit station established there. Certain volumes which had belonged to Major Pierce were donated and a Library Association with Harvey S. Bomberger as President was formed.

Bookmobile outside the library in Hagerstown

The bookmobile parked outside the Washington County Free Library on Summit Avenue, Hagerstown. This was the original library building and was in use until the 1960s.

Beulah K. Eyerly is seated next to the driver. She was an Assistant Librarian from 1912.

Station at Miss Anna Shirk's, Beautiful View

A deposit station was a collection of books held in a location in the county. This particular collection was stored in a private home, that of Miss Anna Shirk of the village of Beautiful View, near the Pennsylvania line. Miss Shirk was listed in the 1906 Bulletin as having a deposit station at her home.
