This painting of the bookmobile depicts a visit to a home near Indian Springs, in western Washington County.
Notes
The painting, owned by Washington County Free Library, is signed G. A. Rudy, and not dated. Gertrude Rudy was a Hagerstown artist, some of whose paintings were exhibited at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. Her husband was the owner of a local pharmacy.
This image was made after the painting was restored by Maria Pukownik, of MP Fine Art and Paper Conservation, Ortanna, PA. It now hangs in the Western Maryland Room of the Hagerstown Library.
