City Native Trains Youngest Gymnasts

When it's half-time during the televised NBA playoff game today between the Washington Bullets and the Atlanta Hawks part of the entertainment will be furnished by the dance group trained and choreographed by a former local woman.

The gentleman behind the middle majorette is Mr. Harry Fisher who is credited with starting the Drum and Bugle Corps. The second majorette from the left is Jean Beckward.

81-year-old a musical fixture

FROSTBURG — His repertoire includes musician, businessman and humanitarian. At age 81, Lucius "Pete" Harper is retired, but he still keeps toes tapping in area nursing homes.

"It makes me happy to make someone else happy," said Harper. "I feel compelled to sing and play music. To bring happiness to people confined to wheelchairs and in nursing homes just makes me happy."
