— DECATUR, Ga. —Arthur Windell Washington III, passed away May 29, 2010 in Atlanta.

He served in the U.S. military at Davis Monthan A.F.B. in Tucson, Ariz., and was deployed to many foreign countries. He was a graduate of Allegany High School, Cumberland, Md.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ruthie Mae Turner, 66, of Washington, formerly of Cumberland, left this life after a long illness on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at the Howard County General Hospital.

Born Feb. 16, 1947 in Cumberland, Mrs. Turner was the daughter of Luvernie York, Cumberland and the late Jesse York Sr. She was also preceded in death her stepfather, Jacob Taylor; her brothers, Jesse York Jr., Luke York, and John York Sr., and her sister, Everland Margaret York.

Steve Trimble, one of the Cumberland area’s all-time greatest athletes and the head football coach at Bishop Denis J. O’Connell High School in Arlington, died Monday in his office at the school. He was 53.

Delores Eleanor Trimble, 81, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 17, 1929, in Cumberland, Mrs. Trimble was the daughter of the late John Winfield Stephens and Hilda (Jones) Stephens.

Delores retired from Peskin’s Shoe Store as their bookkeeper. She was a life member of the Metropolitan A.M.E. Church.

CUMBERLAND — Edith Taylor, 111, of Cumberland, passed on to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, June 20, 2005, at the WMHS Sacred Heart Campus Hospital.

Born May 1, 1894, in Moorefield, WVa., she was the daughter of the late Howard Hollingsworth and Bertha (Willis) Hollingsworth. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Taylor, 1948; three daughters, Edith Dean, Virginia Beckward and, Isabelle Greene; and three sons, Earl Taylor, Henry Taylor, and, Howard Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

John “June” Lewis Stephens Jr., 85, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born May 25, 1924, in Cumberland, Mr. Stephens was the son of the late John Lewis Winfield Stephens Sr., and Hilda Marie (Jones) Stephens. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Stephens.

The Rev. Nellie G. Small, 56, of Beall Street Extended, Frostburg, died Friday, October 17, 1997 at her residence.

Born June 9,1941, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of Mary Ann (Paige) White, Frostburg, and the late Milton L. White. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Oliver White; and one sister, Marjorie Anita White.
