Body

Apples

There has been a great demand for apples this season, and, consequently large quantities of them have been purchased, and will be transported to Georgetown as soon as the Canal opens. — Fifty cents per bushel is readily paid for them.

Notes

Farmers were able to use the canal to transport their goods to the larger markets in Washington, D. C. This way more land was able to be cultivated for a profit since there was easy access to a larger number of people to buy their produce.
