This Indenture Witnesseth that William Easby of the City of Washington in the District of Columbia hath agreed to build for Henry Wade of Washington County in the State of Maryland, For and in considerations of the Sum of Eleven hundred and fifty dollars to be paid as [?] mentioned. A Canal Boat 85 feet long 14 feet wide and to draw not more than three feet water when laden with fifty tons weight. The Said Boat to be built of the best material that is to say white oak frame & bottom plank and [?] yellow pine keel [?] & Ceiling to have a Cabin Aft of 9 feet long a kitchen & forecastle forward, race Boards or Gangways 22 inches wide and two inches thickness [?] beings of the Hatch to be 8 inches above deck the whole hatch Way to be fitted with hatches the Top of the Cabin, Kitchen & Hatches to be of two thicknesses of Boards 5/8 and inch thick[ness?] And tarred paper to be laid between them the Boat to be built in the best manner and of materials of proper size for such boat

The Boat to be painted with two coats of paint and to be furnished complete ready for delivery on or before the 15th day of November 1846 for which Boat Henry Wade is to pay the Said William Easby in the manner following
That is to say on the 15th day of Sept 1846 one hundred and fifty dollars, on the completion of the Boat a further Sum of four hundred dollars and on or before the 31st day of December 1846 four hundred perches of the Best quality of lime Stone or its equivalent in Cash six hundred dollars and it is expressly understood between the parties that the ownership of the Said boat is to be solely in William Easby until the full amount [sic] shall have been paid or the Said Easby otherwise satisfied
