Bond holders of Canal meet, 1856

Chesapeake and Ohio Canal.

It appears that the bond holders of this work held a meeting in Washington on Friday last, and appointed a committee to represent to the Maryland Board of Public Works their anxiety for the appointment of persons as President and Directors at the approaching election, whose qualifications should be marked at once by a professional fitness and by business habits and capabilities of mind. The committee consists of George Brown, of the House of A. Brown & Sons, Baltimore; A. B. Davis, Thomas A. Alexander, L. P. Bayne, C. H. Carter, and Charles St. John Chubb.
