Body

The Canal.

The President and Directors of the Canal have examined the injuries which Dam No. 5 sustained from the recent freshet, and authorize the newspapers to state that they have taken steps to repair those injuries so far as to allow the resumption of navigation by the first or at farthest, the 10th of April. The work is to be prosecuted without intermission night and day, and in the meantime the water is to be let into the Canal at Harper’s Ferry on the 1st of March, so that the Coal Companies can send their coal on the railroad to Harper's Ferry, and from that point send it by the Canal to Georgetown.
