Women's History Celebration, 2019

WOMEN’S HISTORY CELEBRATION, 2019: Held at Allegany College of Maryland on April 8, 2019

The theme for this eighth annual celebration was “Honoring Women of Peace and Nonviolence.” The event was sponsored by the Allegany County Women’s Action Coalition and the Maryland National Organization for Women with support from the Allegany County Commission for Women and NAACP #7007.

Various presentations and recognitions were made. “Honored Guests” included representatives from the offices of United States Senators Ben Cardin, Chris Van Hollen, and Congressman David Trone and Cumberland City Councilpersons Eugene Frazier, Rock Cioni and Laurie Marchini. Approximately 70 people were in attendance.

A gallery exhibit and associated narratives developed by 2019 Human Service Class students entitled “What Were You Wearing?” described sexual assault incidents experienced by students.
