Dan Guzy researches navigation on the Potomac River and its tributaries from the earliest known use of the river to transport people and goods. He includes information on various techniques used to improve river navigation at times of low water. He also describes the various attempts to navigate around falls, like Great Falls and Little Falls, enabling goods being transported from the upper reaches of the Potomac and Shenandoah to reach tidewater by water.
