Slaves Arrested

A telegraph despatch to the Baltimore Sun announces that the slaves of Capt. David Smith and Jacob H. Grove, Esq. of Sharpsburg in this county, three in number, were arrested in New York, on Thursday last. They acknowledged themselves to be slaves; were immediately given up by the Commissioner and sent to Baltimore.— They ran away from their owners on the previous Sunday. We copy the following additional particulars from the Baltimore Sun of Monday —

COMMITTED,

TO the jail of Loudoun county, as a runaway, on the 3d inst. a negro man, who calls himself ELIAS DOWLING. He is supposed to be 25 years of age, is about 6 feet high, not very black, has a scar on his forehead, and a blemish on the sight of his left eye. —Says he belongs to Charles Dickinson, of Louisa county, Va. and has been hired to William Boxler, on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal.

The owner of said negro is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges, and take him away, otherwise he will be disposed of according to law.

A Runaway.
Was committed to the jail of Allegany county, Maryland, on the 21st day of August last, a negro man named CHRISTOPHER ATERS, who says he was commonly called, when at home, by the name of KIT, aged about twenty-five or thirty years. Had on when committed, a blue Cassinett short coat, brown Cassinett pantaloons, homemade waistcoat and also a hair cap. He says he belongs to a Mr. Balwin Luvee, of Fauquier County, Va.
The owner is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges, and take him away, otherwise he will be discharged according to law.

THE above reward will be given and all reasonable expenses paid, tor the apprehension and delivery to me of my negro man,
MICHAEL,
(if taken out of the state, and $30 if taken in,) who absconded on the 25th ult. during my absence from home, and without any provocation. MICHAEL is a mulatto, 27 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, large and well formed, round full face with large eyes, quick and active in his walk. He has one mark by which he cannot be mistaken— which is the loss of half of the two middle fingers on the left hand.

RAN AWAY from the subscriber, living near Baker'sville, Washington county, Maryland, on Thursday the 15th September last, a negro boy, named

SMITH,

between 17 and 18 years of age, about 5 feet 6 or 8 inches high, stout made, very black complected, has a down look when spoken to, slow of speech, and voice varying from coarse to fine while speaking, has rather a sluggish movement for his age. Had on when he went away, a blue cloth frock coat, a gray cloth vest, a muslin shirt, then pantaloons, coarse shoes and a white wool hat.
