John “June” Lewis Stephens Jr., 85, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born May 25, 1924, in Cumberland, Mr. Stephens was the son of the late John Lewis Winfield Stephens Sr., and Hilda Marie (Jones) Stephens. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Stephens.

The Rev. Nellie G. Small, 56, of Beall Street Extended, Frostburg, died Friday, October 17, 1997 at her residence.

Born June 9,1941, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of Mary Ann (Paige) White, Frostburg, and the late Milton L. White. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Oliver White; and one sister, Marjorie Anita White.

Constance "Connie" "Oodie" Richey, 75, of Washington, formerly of Cumberland, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at Greater Southeast Community Hospital, Washington.

Surviving are her husband, William Milton Richey, Washington; three sisters, Roberta Thompson, Somerset, Pa., Irene Keys, Cumberland, Lorraine Sailes, Omaha, Neb.; three brothers-in-law, George Thompson, Nial Keys and William Sailes; two sisters-in-law, Marie Richardson and Eleise Hawkins; and other relatives and friends.

Robert Ellsworth Powell Sr., 79, of Cumberland, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 7, 1920, in Mount Union, Pa., he was the son of the late Wilbur and Pearl (Fields) Powell. He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Ann Powell; two brothers, Wilmont Powell and Donald Lee Powell; and one sister, Irene (Powell) Gilmore. Mr. Powell was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Fulton Myers Post #153 American Legion and the Teamsters Local #453.

Born on June 15, 1943, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late William and Edna Powell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William Powell, Jack Powell, and the Rev. Robert Powell; and his sisters, Maxine Kent, Audrey Powell, Evelyn Powell, Barbara Clay and Brenda Gurganus.

Born Jan. 7, 1942, in Cumberland, Mr. Pope was the son of the late Joseph Roger and Louise E. Pope. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Drake M. Pope; and a sister, Mary Louise Jones.
